This final order cutoff is a good one with some potental winners, particularly for you first appearance collectors as we'll see a first in Captain Marvel #18. So keep scrolling and reading to find out as we spill a few spoilers for that issue and pick the rest of what's getting cut off this Monday for your comic book orders.
For those that are new to comics or not aware, FOC which is short for Final Order Cutoff is the final day retailers have to place final orders on new books. So each week, Wednesdays are new comic book day but Monday evenings are FOC for new books that are about a month or so away from being released.
This post and article will cover our highlight picks for this Monday July 6th, 2020.
This book has a few things going for it. It's got not only a King name on it but also his dad, Stephen King.
Great story. Great artwork and it's already been optioned. With King's named attached, there's a good chance we'll see this on our television screens or some streaming service eventually.
There's a 1:10 and some nice Peach Momoko store variants available for this issue that you might not find at your local shops but rather on the secondary market.
It's a one-shot but the premise sounds like it could be a great pickup for fans of 2001: Space Odyssey and any Sci-Fi lover.
In a glorious exploration of the comics medium with echoes of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Flash Gordon, Chris Ware, and Moebius, a lone astronaut leaves a world ravaged by nuclear war in search of life. What she finds is beyond all explanation.
'This beautiful, intricate marvel is one of the fullest expressions of what can be done with comics that I've seen in years.' -Warren Ellis
In this issue we learn who the present day figure who looks like Anakin's lost love is that is bringing back all the flashback memories of Darth Vaders past.
So Captain Marvel becomes the Accuser but I can tell you one thing after reading previews of Empyre #3 and Captain Marvel #18, that's not the speculation I think. The real speculation is she (Carol Danvers) discovers she has a half sister in Captain Marvel #18.
And just to spoil it a little more, she was suppose to destroy her half-sister but they're seen riding off together in Carol's ship, with the narrative of Carol stating that she's "made it more complicated than I ever imagined"... This issue ends with the Kree Emporer being informed and saying "She did what?"
This issue is titled "Accused" and the next one is "ON THE RUN!". I don't think Carol sticks as the Accuser but will become the Accused herself.
Great series, this one makes the list due to it's awesome new variant cover of Boba Fett.
Mega Man moves from Udon to BOOM! Studios. Could be good, could be bad. But Mega Man fans won't pass this one up. I've read the first issue and it's quite entertaining. The art is good. I'm just not keen on the high ratio variants BOOM! is doing. They could be hard to come by as I don't see many shops ordering 50 or more copies and they've got a 1:50 and 1:100 ratio variants, a silver and gold of the regular cover by Inhyuk Lee, which I must say is pretty cool cover.
This one was replaced by Federici, which features the new Robin King on the cover. Some retailers haven't updated their product listings so don't be fooled and some retailers might not catch this change, possibly under ordering thinking it's just going to be an Opena variant that doesn't have Robin King on the cover, who's being introduced in this new series.
